Crickets

Last night as I was writing my post for today, I struggled. There were so many things to write about, but nothing really was jelling in my mind. Does this happen to you?
.
I received a phone call from my daughter and talked for a while. She asked how it was going with my post, and in a sarcastic tone, I replied, “Well, my spirit animal is now crickets.”
.
After talking for a bit, the conversation morphed into how these moments of creative overwhelming blankness serve their purpose of how to focus your thinking.
.
We talked for a few minutes and then I realized. Crickets after moments of complete silence, crickets chirp. In fact, on a summer evening, they can chirp so loud that it sounds like a city of crickets.
.
As I write this post and reflect on learning from my experience, as I try to do in most situations. My take-away is: Just when you think you have hit a creative “wall”, you are just gearing up for a new breakthrough. Just give yourself a break and clear your mind and let the crickets start chirping.
