Portrait of a Bloom

The nature of art is not always hidden in my paintbrush. This week the portrait that I took of my “girls” in full bloom really resonated with me artistically. The three orchid plants that I’ve lovingly nurtured for a few years, one by one take turns in presenting themselves with blooms- when their time is right.

Each has their own personality and style of blooming. The orchid that I featured in this portrait has a stately personality. She exudes a white, delicate serenity as she presides over all the other orchids and house plants. In this case, the photograph reveals what a paintbrush can never do.
