This week I indulged in a daydream. A daydream about Venice, Italy.

All week there have been splashes of images from Venice on social media from the 2021 Venice International Film Festival. The photos of the beautiful sunsets that take place every day in Venice, Italy almost seem unimaginable.

There is a special aura that encompasses Venice. It has a special magic light that many artists try to capture. Artists like Monet, Bellini, Canaletto, and many more have painted Venice in her many moods. There is a common thread in most paintings. There is a show of pinks, corals, and lavenders with golden touches, here and there.
A magic light that seems to dance off the expressive waters makes for a spectacular show every evening.

Venice is also a lady of mystery. There is an alluring mist that envelops the city at times. The mist that rises when conditions are just right. A veil of modesty to buffer the intense sensuality of the city.

Someday I’ll travel to Venice, but until then…this painting is a prelude to sunsets yet unseen in Venice.
